Christmas at The Vincent

Stay over at The Vincent during Christmas

If you're seeking a festive retreat with a dash of elegance, The Vincent in Southport is an absolute gem this Christmas. The hotel is beautifully dressed for the season, complete with a show-stopping Santa sleigh that’s perfect for a selfie or two. The modern, classic design gives it a timeless charm, and from my room, I had a front-row seat to Southport’s giant teddy bear – it was the extra touch of holiday magic I didn’t know I needed. I’d be excited to return for other seasons too.

The room itself exuded spacious elegance, with an indulgent extra-deep bath that added a luxurious touch; ideal for a relaxing soak after a day of exploring. The reception staff were warm, attentive, and more than happy to lend a hand (they even held the door open while I was juggling luggage and my five-year-old). Their friendly smiles made all the difference.

Food-wise, The Vincent really delivered. We were treated to quick, tasty meals served right to our room. The mushroom tagliatelle was a standout, packed with a variety of mushrooms that brought rich, earthy flavours to every bite. My son’s children's burger and chips was a hit, and we also sampled some salmon sushi and sizzling prawns – both of which were fresh and perfectly prepared.

Location-wise, it’s hard to beat. The hotel is right in the heart of Southport – steps away from the shops, restaurants, and the Atkinson Museum, with the Marine Lake and piers just a short 10-minute stroll (or piggyback ride, depending on your child’s enthusiasm!).

For breakfast, we opted for the ultimate comfort: breakfast in bed. Hot pastries, creamy porridge, and a perfectly cooked sausage sarnie on fresh ciabatta. It was the exact fuel required for a day of exploring.

Southport in winter is nothing short of exceptional with ice skating in the park, stunning light sculptures, and plenty of festive charm. After dark, don’t miss the light tree in the town centre – the view from inside is mesmerising. We also had a lovely lunch at Bistro Pierre, where the French-inspired menu added a little extra flair to our day. And to cap off the trip, we grabbed some classic fish and chips from King’s Plaice.

It was the perfect end to a fantastic stay. In short, The Vincent offers a blend of luxury, warmth, and convenience that makes it the quintessential base for a winter getaway. Whether you’re here for the Christmas cheer or the charm of Southport itself, this place is a winner all around.
